I made a decision over the weekend, that just like with my Year 3's, my students need exercise and lots of it! I bought some smart shorts to wear to school and wore trainers. I made sure the kids ran with me and like wise today. I strongly believe that time helps them settle to work in the classroom. Monday we did 10 mins and today we did 20 mins running/sprinting/doing some drills. They seem to enjoy it and want to do sprints also.
I want to find out more about this and find more ways to incorporate "brain breaks" throughout the day.
The teacher in this article I read even went as far as putting gym equipment at the back of her classroom and it made a big difference. Time for more research and more sprint ideas for this week!
Incidentally it makes a world of difference to my well being too!
